WPC certification in India

Introduction of India WPC Certification

India WPC (Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing) is an Indian regulatory agency that regulates wireless regulations. All wireless products must obtain WPC approval before entering the market. There are two types of frequency bands in India: free and unavailable. For free frequency bands, such equipment only needs to apply for an ETA (equipment type approval) certificate; for other frequency bands that are not free, you need to apply for a license. Both the ETA and the license holder must be a locally registered company. Based on CE R & TTE or FCC ID (Indian local standard), 2G / 3G / 4G requires mobile operators to apply.

WPC certification basic information
· Compulsory certification
· No factory inspection required
· Sample testing required, or no sample if RF report for CE is available
No local testing required
Need local representatives
· Certification cycle 3-4 weeks
· Certificate is valid for a long time

Specifically, any wireless transmission less than 3000 Ghz without manual control is considered "wireless communication" as defined by WPC. These frequency bands are under the control of WPC. That is, wireless transmissions (such as infrared) with frequencies higher than 3000 Ghz are not considered "wireless communications." WPC certification does not control these frequency bands. Since India has two types of free and unopened frequency bands, for wireless communication products whose frequency bands and output power fall within the control range, an ETA certificate must be applied to the WPC. In addition, ETA holders must be locally registered companies. In addition, WPC accepts the CE report's RF report to WPC certification, without the need to provide samples and tests.

All wireless devices that work in approved frequency bands. The following frequency bands are free:
1.2.40 to 2.4835 GHz
2.5.15 to 5.350 GHz
3.5.725 to 5.825 GHz
4.5.825 to 5.875 GHz
5.402 to 405 MHz
6.865 to 867 MHz
7.26.957 – 27.283 MHz
8.335 MHz for remote control of crane
9.20 to 200 KHz.
10.13.56 MHz
11.433 to 434 MHz

WPC certification requirements
The wireless certification of wireless products in India can be divided into two types: ETA (Equipment Type of Approval) certification and License license. For free frequency bands such as 13.56 MHz, 433MHz, 2.4GHz, 5.725-5.825 GHz, etc., you need to apply for ETA certification; if the device uses other non-free open frequency bands, such as GSM, WCDMA mobile phones, etc., you need to apply for a license.

For ETA certification, India recognizes European standards, and WPC signs certificates through audit reports. For the license, it needs to meet Indian standards.

For ETA applications, products do not need to be sent to India for testing, and products with R & TTE reports can submit approval applications to WPC.

Applicable product range

Equipment with radio transmitters. These include mobile (GSM or WCDMA) phones, wireless local area network (WLAN) devices such as Wi-Fi devices, Bluetooth devices, Zigbee devices, WiMAX devices, RFID devices, contactless smart card readers, and some other RF transmission Products. In addition, only receivers do not need WPC certificates, such as GPS products.

Application process

1. The customer submits samples and information, and submits the application to NTEK;
2. Submit CE RED report and related documents to WPC (if there is no CE RED report, NTEK will be responsible for testing and issue CE RED test report);
3. WPC audit, issue ETA certificate after passing.

Application materials

1. Product RF test report (provided by the testing laboratory according to EN 300 328);
2. Product technical data sheet;
3. Authorizations and agreements from foreign manufacturers.

Certification category

ETA (Equipment Type of Approval) certification: free open frequency bands such as 13.56 MHz, 433 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.725-5.825 GHz
License: non-free open frequency bands, such as GSM, WCDMA mobile phones.
For ETA certification, India recognizes European standards, and WPC signs certificates through audit reports. For the license, it needs to meet Indian standards.
For ETA applications, products do not need to be sent to India for testing, and products with R & TTE reports can submit approval applications to WPC.
